Company (competition) program

The Stage Awaits

Competition classes are designed for students who seek a higher level of technical training and performance commitment.

Dancers will work on a choreographed dance for the season and will perform at Gather Dance Academy’s Year End Show.

They will also take their dance to 1 or 2 dance competitions. The average cost for competition entry is $60-$75+ per dancer per dance, in each competition.

All dancers taking Company classes must take the required classes.

Company Ballet / Company Contemporary & Lyrical: Required to take Stretch & Strength AND a Ballet class (either Open or RAD). Please note: Company Ballet does not fulfill the ballet requirement for Contemporary/Lyrical.
Company Hip Hop / Company Jazz: Required to take Stretch & Strength AND Jazz Tech.

Regular attendance is required. Please note dancers may have to miss school if their competition lands on a school day.

Our company dance styles

LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY

Lyrical and contemporary dance merge the technical elements of ballet and jazz to focus on emotional storytelling and fluid motion. These styles often prioritize floor work and the physical expression of song lyrics or abstract concepts.

Dress Code: Leotard, leggings or footless tights, fitted top. Half-soles(foot undies) or bare feet.

BALLET

Ballet is a disciplined and graceful art form that serves as the foundation for most Western dance styles, focusing on precise technique and core strength. It emphasizes fluid movements, turned-out legs, and elegant posture to create a sense of weightlessness We offer both Open and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet options.

Dress Code: Body Suit (RAD = Black, Open = No specific color), ballet tights, and proper ballet shoes. Hair must be worn in a bun.

SOLOS/DUOS/TRIOS

The Solo/Duo/Trio Program is an accelerated, privilege-based track designed for dancers who demonstrate exceptional dedication, work ethic, and technique. It offers dancers the opportunity to represent the studio at competitions and events with independent choreography.

Program Structure

September Intensive: The program kicks off with an initial intensive consisting of four 1-hour sessions to learn and set the custom choreography.
Monthly Rehearsals: From October through May, dancers attend monthly 30-minute "cleaning" and rehearsal sessions to refine their routines, technique, and performance quality.

Key Requirements

Core Enrollment: Dancers must maintain active enrollment in their core technique classes to ensure they are building and sustaining the foundational skills required for their routines.
Accountability & Commitment: Because these routines are highly independent, dancers are expected to show strong personal accountability, practice consistently at home, and attend all scheduled dress rehearsals and mandatory events.
