Dance for the love of it

Recreational dance classes are designed for students who want to explore the joy of movement, develop foundational skills, and stay active without the high-pressure environment of competitive training. Dancers will learn a choreographed dance for the season and perform their dance in the Gather Dance Academy’s Year End Show at the end of May.

OUR DANCE STYLES

ACRO

Acro combines classical dance technique with the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements and tumbling. This style focuses on building the strength, flexibility, and balance necessary to safely execute tricks such as cartwheels, handstands, and aerials.

Dress Code: Fitted clothing is mandatory for safety. Bare feet only.

BALLET

Ballet is a disciplined and graceful art form that serves as the foundation for most Western dance styles, focusing on precise technique and core strength. It emphasizes fluid movements, turned-out legs, and elegant posture to create a sense of weightlessness We offer both Open and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet options.

Dress Code: Body Suit (RAD = Black, Open = No specific color), ballet tights, and proper ballet shoes. Hair must be worn in a bun.

HIGHLAND

Highland dance is a high-energy, technical style originating from Scotland that combines athletic strength with intricate footwork. This tradition-rich discipline focuses on stamina and precision, featuring iconic movements like the Highland Fling and Sword Dance.

Dress Code: A fitted top or leotard with shorts or leggings that allow for visible knee and foot placement. Traditional Ghillies (soft-soled Highland shoes) or soft soled dance shoes are required.

KINDERDANCE

KinderDance is a playful and imaginative introduction to the world of movement designed specifically for our youngest dancers. This class focuses on developing basic motor skills, rhythm, and coordination through creative storytelling and fundamental dance steps.

Dress Code: Comfortable dancewear or athletic clothing that allows for easy movement. Dancers may wear ballet slippers, clean sneakers, or participate in bare feet depending on the day's activities.

MOM(PARENT)&BABY

Mom & Baby classes offer a supportive environment for parents to regain strength and bond with their little ones through gentle movement and dance. These sessions focus on postnatal-friendly exercises, rhythmic swaying, and interactive play that engages both the parent and child.

Dress Code: For the adult, comfortable workout or yoga attire and clean indoor sneakers or bare feet. Babies should be in comfortable play clothes; if using a carrier, please ensure it is ergonomic and securely fitted.

ADAPTIVE DANCE

Adaptive Dance is an inclusive program designed to make the joy of movement accessible to dancers of all abilities and needs. These classes prioritize individual expression and physical exploration, with choreography and instruction tailored to suit the unique strengths of every participant.

Dress Code: Any comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion and makes the dancer feel confident. Footwear is flexible based on individual needs—clean sneakers, dance shoes, or non-slip socks are all welcome
